Pearl Harbor. Was it really a surprise

Summary

Pearl Harbor happened on December 7, 1941. We have provided you with information if FDR knew about the attack on Pearl harbor before it happened, so that you can make an educated guess. 3,500 Amicans had either been killed or wounded during Pearl Harbor, 21 U.S. ships were sunk or had been damaged.

The attack on Pearl Harbor happened on December 7, 1941. We were attacked by the Japenese. We want to answer the question was this attack actually a surprise to the President. This is a question we can never answer, but we want to give enough information so you can make an educated decision on the subject for yourself.

The assumption of Franklin D. Roosevelt know about Japan attacking was first by Thomas Dewey running for election against him in 1944. Dewey was running for president agaisnt FDR. He learned the information that we could pick up Japanese radio signals. He then made then thought if we could hear these signals we should have known about Pearl Harbor happening. He thought that this information would help him win the election against the very popular president. He never could say this information, because Japan still had no knowledge of us being able to listen to there radio. So Thomas could not use this informatiion agaisnt Roosevelt in the election. Roosevelt was elected president for the fourth time. Information from http://www.independent.org/newsroom/article.asp?id=408 interview of Robert B. Stinnett by Douglas Cirignano.

On http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/6315/pearl.html they say that FDR blinded Hawaii by three things. Denying inteligaince to Hawaii, misleading the commanders of Hawaii to think negotiations were still going on, having false information sent to hawaii about were Japanese carrier fleet was.

On http://www.strike-the-root.com/columns/Hull/hull5.html Don Hull talks about how he thinks Franklin Roosevelt and how he thinks taht he knew about the bombing. He believes FDR wanted war to happen so he could gain more power. He aslso wanted to help his friend Churchill in the war. He needed Pearl Harbor to happen so that the country would be behind and support him.

There is a lot of information out there. It is hard to tell which is true and which is false. We tryed our best to get realiable sources. It is near to impossible to know if FDR actually knew about the Pearl Harbor bombing be for it happened. Everyone needs to make there own decision on what they think actually happened.
